What's Inside Your 21D Surgery Goodie Bag?

At 21D, your comfort and recovery are our top priorities. To make your post-surgery journey as smooth as possible, we provide all our patients with a 21D Goodie Bag on the day of their surgery. This essential kit contains everything you need for effective aftercare, along with clear instructions to ensure optimal healing. Let’s take a closer look at what’s inside and how to use each item.

Post-Operative Instructions

First and foremost, your goodie bag includes detailed post-operative instructions. This guide outlines everything you need to know about recovery, aftercare, and what to expect in the days following your procedure. It’s essential to read through this carefully and keep it on hand for reference. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact your treatment coordinator.

Sterile Gauze

Bleeding and oozing are entirely normal after surgery. To manage this, we provide sterile gauze. If you notice excessive dribbling or bleeding, simply fold the gauze, place it over the affected area, and bite down gently. This helps to control bleeding and keep the area clean.

Ice Packs for Swelling

Swelling is also a common part of the healing process. To help manage it, we include two types of ice packs in your goodie bag:

1. Disposable Ice Packs – Gently squeeze to activate, then apply to the affected area for 15 minutes at a time, rotating spots to avoid freezing the skin.
2. Reusable Ice Pack – This can be placed in the freezer for about an hour, used on the area, and then refrozen for repeated use.

These ice packs help to reduce inflammation and provide relief from discomfort during the initial recovery period.

21D BlueM Kit

After the first 24 hours, it’s time to begin using the 21D BlueM Kit provided in your goodie bag. This kit includes:

• BlueM Oxygen Fluid Mouthwash
• BlueM Toothpaste
• BlueM Oral Gel
• Soft Toothbrush

Brushing:

Using the soft toothbrush and a pea-sized amount of BlueM toothpaste, gently clean around the prosthesis. Be careful to avoid brushing the gum line, as it will still be healing and sensitive.

Oral Gel:

If you experience any sores or ulcers in your mouth, apply the BlueM Oral Gel directly to the affected area using the nozzle — avoid using your fingers for hygiene reasons.

Mouthwash:

The BlueM Oxygen Fluid Mouthwash should be used three to five times a day. Swish it gently from side to side; avoid vigorous rinsing to prevent dislodging any healing clots.

Cliniset Mouthwash

For additional relief, we provide Cliniset Mouthwash. This mouthwash is specifically designed to soothe and numb sore areas, offering extra comfort if you experience any post-surgery discomfort.

Transition to Electric Toothbrush & Water Flosser

Three weeks after surgery, you should switch from the soft toothbrush to the electric toothbrush included in your goodie bag. This electric toothbrush comes with a charger and helps to maintain optimal oral hygiene with ease.

At this stage, you should also begin using your water flosser. Simply attach the nozzle, fill it with water, and gently clean around the gum line and prosthesis. It’s best to do this over the sink as it can get a bit messy, but it’s highly effective at dislodging food particles and debris.
