For years, Jacqueline had been managing with only a handful of natural teeth remaining. The rest had been replaced with dentures - a solution that, on paper, is meant to restore function, but in reality can often bring frustration and discomfort.
While her upper denture was manageable, the lower denture caused persistent pain and instability. It moved when she tried to eat, making chewing difficult and unpredictable. The few remaining teeth were loose, offering little support. As a result, everyday meals became a challenge rather than something to enjoy.
Gradually her diet became more restricted. Foods that require proper chewing - meat, fruit, crunchy vegetables - were no longer realistic options. Meals were limited to softer alternatives, and eating out became stressful rather than enjoyable.
Like many people, Jacqueline adapted and carried on. But living a life with dentures affects more than just eating - it impacts confidence, comfort, and overall quality of life.
Putting Family First
For 21D nurse, Beth, this transformation is particularly special. Jacqueline isn’t just another patient - she’s family.
“My nan is my absolute world and I would never, ever put her in a situation that I didn’t feel comfortable in”.
After years of caring for others and putting family first, this moment was about Jacqueline finally doing something for herself. As Beth puts it, “it’s the first step in actually looking after yourself”. As both a nurse and a granddaughter, having her own nan in the surgical chair reflects not only trust in the team, but confidence in the solution and the long-term outcome.
Surgery Day
Surgery day brought a mix of nerves and excitement - completely natural after so many years of discomfort. Despite everything she had been through with failing teeth and painful dentures, Jacqueline wasn’t fearful. She was ready to move forward.
The procedure itself was smooth, carefully planned, and supported by a team who understood not just the clinical side, but the emotional weight of the moment. Seeing herself in the mirror for the first time after surgery, it was clear what this transformation meant to Jacqueline. “I’ve got teeth!”, she says in disbelief.

Life After Dentures
For Jacqueline, the biggest changes are in the small everyday moments. She no longer has to remove her teeth at night, or worry about uncomfortable dentures shifting throughout the day. Foods she once avoided are now back on the menu, and mealtimes are no longer limited to what feels ‘safe’.
The constant anxiety and awareness of her teeth has gone, replaced with comfort and ease. “I’m not embarrassed anymore”, she shares.
This solution has not just restored function and her ability to chew properly, but given her back her confidence and a sense of normality.
After years of prioritising everyone else, this marked a moment of finally doing something for her. As granddaughter Beth shares, “I’m so unbelievably proud of her”. It’s a reminder that full mouth implants aren’t simply about replacing teeth but restoring dignity, function, and the freedom to enjoy life fully again.
