"I've got a disabled son, and unfortunately, my teeth were knocked out, and I had gum disease, which left me with about seven teeth in my mouth. I was dealing with a lot of infections and pain, so it was time to address my dental issues. I didn't seek treatment for cosmetic reasons but for practicality; I couldn't eat properly and was living on soup and soft foods.
I've always hated dentists, but my experience here has changed my perspective. They're good people. It wasn't until I came here that I discovered I had gum disease and other severe problems. I had tried normal dentures, which I wouldn't recommend—they cover the roof of your mouth, so you can't feel textures or taste your food properly. The alternatives offered here are much better.
I've been to many dentists and encountered numerous issues, but here at 21D, everyone in the room is friendly and approachable. They're happy to talk if you want to, or they'll leave you alone if you prefer, which is great when you're in pain and don't feel like socializing.
My confidence has completely changed. I used to dye my hair bright colors and wear lots of piercings so people would notice them instead of my smile. Now, my hair is natural, and I don't have the piercings anymore. I go out for meals, have been on holiday, and can now smile in pictures with my son. I've got my life back, and it's absolutely brilliant.
Sometimes, I catch myself in the mirror or in an elevator, admiring my teeth and feeling good about my appearance. It's a great feeling to have regained my confidence. The first thing I ate when I got my permanent teeth was pizza—I had been craving it because I couldn't eat the base with my old teeth.
My surgery was more involved than most because I had to have bone and gums adjusted, and I was in surgery for a long time. If you're nervous, I highly recommend opting for sedation—it makes the process much easier. And make sure to rest afterwards; don't underestimate the recovery, as you will be bruised and swollen, but it's not as bad as you might think.
I've had a few issues, like knocking caps off with my water pick, but a quick call to 21D, and they've fixed it within 24 hours. The support here is amazing—you have help available 24/7, just a drive away. If you're considering it, just do it. It will change your life, there's no other way to explain it."
